What it does
Runway generates and edits video from text or image prompts using its Gen-4.5 model, used for short AI-generated clips, video effects, and AI-assisted editing. The free plan is a one-time credit allocation rather than a monthly refill, so it functions more as a trial than an ongoing free tier.
Best for
- Trying AI video generation with a one-time free allocation before committing to a paid plan
Not the best fit for
- Ongoing free use — the free credits don't refresh monthly, unlike most other tools in this catalog
